I was browsing design inspiration this week when I came across a slideshow on Better Homes & Gardens showcasing inventive repurposed furniture. I love bathrooms with personality, and these adapted vanities sparked lots of ideas.

Each photo made me think about pieces I already own and how they could be transformed into a functional vanity. It wasn’t a plan to change my furniture—just an exercise in noticing possibilities. Compare the inspiration photos with similar pieces from my home and imagine the small modifications that would be needed.

With a little reconfiguration—adding a new top, creating an opening for a sink, or raising the legs—you can convert many types of tables, dressers, cabinets, or console tables into stylish vanities. The charm of using repurposed furniture is the character it brings, from unique hardware to unexpected textures.

If you’ve already given a piece new life—turning a desk into a vanity or updating a buffet as a sink base—share your project. Upload photos and tell the story of your transformation so others can see how everyday furniture can become a standout bathroom feature.
What could you transform in your home?
Consider pieces with solid construction and interesting proportions: a narrow dresser for a powder room, a sideboard for a double vanity, or a console table with added storage. Think about practical changes (plumbing access, waterproof top, appropriate height) and stylistic updates (paint, hardware, sink style) that will marry form and function.
