Come on in — there’s always room in my kitchen. Pull up a stool, get comfortable, and let’s enjoy the season together.
This is my very first fall in this kitchen, and I’ve been looking forward to experiencing how the space feels as the weather cools and the light changes. Little details like that matter to me.
I always notice the rhythm of the year, and the week of Labor Day tends to feel especially hectic around here. Skipping Monday sounds tempting until you realize a day just disappeared from the calendar. With a stack of deadlines, I’m soaking up every hour I can find.

My son started school today, which instantly puts our household on a fall schedule. The first morning back is always a little jolt — no lingering breakfasts or lazy starts. I realized I should have stocked up on simple lunch and breakfast staples, but thankfully his school serves a welcome-back lunch. Sometimes we all need a grace day.

I’m so glad you stopped by. If you’re new here or missed our remodel posts, you can find the full kitchen reveal and details in the original reveal post on my site. This kitchen has been a long time in the making, and having our first fall in it feels special.
The remodel started early last October and finished just after the new year. We baked our first dish in the new oven on Christmas — a memory that still makes me smile. There’s something about new spaces and rituals that make seasons feel fresh and meaningful.

When I designed the kitchen, I thought about how it would feel in every season. I love evolving my home as the year turns, but I don’t rely on trendy seasonal decor. Instead, I collect meaningful items and rotate a few cozy accents to reflect the season without overwhelming the space.
We don’t bring out pumpkins here until mid-October, but there are many understated ways to bring autumn into a kitchen: warm textiles, wooden utensils, layered lighting, and textures that invite you to linger.

Crock // Hand-carved Wood Spoons
Tomorrow I’ll share more about the beautiful wooden spoons I collected and other pieces I use year-round to create a warm, collected look. These small, well-made objects add texture and personality to everyday tasks.

I recently added a cozy fall runner to the kitchen. The colors are soft and the pattern hides everyday messes — perfect for a family kitchen. Changing runners with the seasons is an easy way to refresh the look and feel without much fuss.

For those who want more details, I’ve shared a full list of kitchen sources, FAQs, and design notes on the site. There are also posts about how we chose appliances, why we used shiplap behind the stove and sink, our Dutch doors, and tips that helped guide our remodel.
Tomorrow we’ll still be in the kitchen — I’ll share favorite collected pieces and simple ways to create a warm fall ambience in your own home. I love talking about the small nesting things that make a house feel cozy and personal.
