I’ve long loved white washable slipcovers on our Pottery Barn sofas, so I get a lot of questions about where to find good ones. When we moved into our current home last fall, it already had an Ektorp sofa and chairs with slipcovers. We passed our Pottery Barn sofa on to our daughter because it didn’t suit the space.
We may eventually buy new furniture after our remodel, but for now I still love the classic, comfortable shape of the Ikea Ektorp. Over the years I’ve had luck finding discounted Pottery Barn slipcovers on Etsy, eBay, or Facebook Marketplace, and sometimes store-model or outlet finds are great options too.
Decorating on a budget, one step at a time
After a year of moves, our daughter’s wedding, guests, and planning a kitchen remodel, we hadn’t focused much on decorating. With fall approaching, the nesting instinct returned and I wanted to make this room feel more like home. Even though new flooring and other changes are planned, those updates could take time. So instead of waiting, I made a few affordable, staged changes that work with our budget and timeline.
Bringing in a blue-and-white rug we already owned, rearranging the room around a round table, and adding fresh white slipcovers to the chairs made a big difference. Rearranging and updating slipcovers are small changes that can dramatically refresh a space without a large investment.

How do these slipcovers compare to Pottery Barn?
These white slipcovers fit, feel, and look very similar to the soft warm-white denim slipcovers I’ve owned from Pottery Barn. They appear well-made and include piping detail that gives them a tailored, custom look. I can’t promise prices won’t change, but if you’re considering an update and your chairs will work with these covers, now might be a good time to buy.
Years ago I tried Ikea’s own white Ektorp slipcover and didn’t like it, so I’m pleasantly surprised by how much nicer these are in comparison. Occasionally IKEA and Pottery Barn pieces are interchangeable, but that isn’t always the case, so check fit carefully.
Adding white slipcovers made the room feel more like home to me.
