We’ve only lived in this house for two months, and we feel so grateful to be home for Christmas. This year will be the first in more than thirty years that we won’t have any children here for the holiday, so the house will feel quieter and a little bittersweet. We had planned for a full family gathering, but a sudden cold snap, an approaching snowstorm, and a possible COVID exposure changed everyone’s plans. Thankfully, none of our family members are ill, and we agreed it was best to celebrate separately this year.
We’ll be connecting with loved ones over Zoom again—doing our best to create warmth and togetherness from afar. Even amid fatigue and unexpected changes, we’re remembering the true meaning of Christmas and feeling grateful for our health and each other. We know this season is especially hard for many who are lonely or facing difficulties; our thoughts and prayers are with you.
