20 Small Ways to Practice Gratitude Daily

In 2008 I put together a simple list titled “20 Little Attitudes of Gratitude”—small habits and reminders I wanted our family to practice at home. Over the years I return to that list often. It’s a gentle way to center our home life, nurture appreciation, and teach our son the value of kindness and thankfulness in everyday moments.

Recently I shared these reminders on my Instagram stories, and many of you responded that the ideas resonated. If you like, save the images to your phone or pin them so you can revisit the list when you need a little perspective.

I encourage you to create your own gratitude list. Choosing twenty small attitudes or actions to practice can transform the way your household feels. These are easy to try and return to throughout the year, not just on holidays—simple shifts that make home life kinder and more peaceful.

You might write your list in a journal or on printable planner pages. A dedicated place for these reminders helps make them part of your daily routine and gives you something tangible to reflect on together as a family.

If you shared these on social media, feel free to save or share them to inspire others in your circle.
