YYou know I love making lists of small, happy things. One of my best blogging friends, Meg, has a family tradition I adore: each year her kids create a summer list of activities they want to do. They include everything from silly ideas to big plans, then post the list on poster board with boxes to check off as they complete each item. It’s a simple, playful way to set intentions for the season and make room for fun.
This tradition is a great way to keep kids entertained and to make summer feel memorable.
You don’t need children to benefit from a summer list—I’m making one for myself. Life has been incredibly busy and finding time to play has been a challenge. Putting simple, achievable activities on a list helps me plan and prioritize moments of joy.
Highlights from my summer list include: playing with my son in the fountains, eating ice cream down at the harbor, having a family picnic, and taking the kids to a drive-in movie.
Having a list of small, meaningful activities gives me hope that this summer won’t be all work and no play.
How about you? What do YOU want to do this summer?
Vacations—real or virtual—are part of summer’s charm. I’ve got some dreamy destinations in mind and I’ll be sharing them here next week. Join me for a virtual road trip: relax, and I’ll handle the planning. It should be fun.
