Before Jack the Goldendoodle, there was another fluffy white dog named Winston, a sweet little Westie.
We brought Winston home as a puppy 18 years ago, straight from the farm to our family.
We shared so many adventures together, but his favorite place in the world was always the beach.
All of our children grew up with Winston by their side.
He loved attending the kids’ basketball games and track meets and simply being part of family life.
If you’ve followed the blog from the early days, you might remember Winston popping into photos. He was the original blog dog for The Inspired Room.
Even as he grew older, Winston never lost his love for exploring and being outdoors.
A year and a half ago we welcomed Jack the Goldendoodle into our home. Jack quickly sensed how special Winston was, even if he wished Winston would play more.
In Winston’s final days, Jack stayed close, watching over him with quiet tenderness while he rested.
On Saturday morning Winston passed away peacefully after 18 wonderful years as a cherished member of our family.
Saying goodbye was heartbreaking.
Winston was deeply loved, and we will carry his memory with us every day.
