I love the trend of full walls of windows and doors. Don’t you? Natural light lifts the mood and makes a space feel larger and more inviting. An unobstructed view to the outdoors can turn an ordinary room into a calm indoor/outdoor retreat.

Spending so much time at home recently has made me especially grateful for our large windows. We were lucky that the previous owner installed high-quality Milgard vinyl replacement windows — they were one of the main features that drew us to this house. Energy-efficient, durable, and easy to operate, these windows have made daily life more comfortable compared with the drafty, stuck windows I remember from older houses.

Replacing windows improves curb appeal and transforms the interior, too. New windows are one of the smartest investments for your home’s value, and they also contribute to everyday comfort and well-being. Think of them as an investment you enjoy every day.

Lately I’ve been imagining a wall of windows looking out to our side patio. I watched a kitchen remodel that used a moving glass wall system, and it sparked a lot of ideas about opening up sightlines, bringing in daylight, and connecting indoor spaces with the outdoors.

It has me dreaming about adding more windows and doors throughout our house — what happens when you spend more time at home than usual!

Right now I’m planning to add doors between the bedroom and living room to take advantage of natural light and views. I’m also considering larger bedroom windows and multiple sets of patio doors to create easy access to the yard.

Some of my favorite window trends right now are:

  • Oversized walls of windows or patio doors
  • Black or dark window frames for contrast
  • Bay windows that create built-in seating or a cozy reading nook
  • Transom windows to bring in extra light while maintaining privacy

If you’re dreaming of new windows, many local Milgard dealers offer virtual consultations. They can measure for new windows and doors in person while following safety guidelines, or they can walk homeowners through measuring their own openings to provide an accurate quote.

A virtual consultation pairs well with seasonal promotions that let homeowners “Order Now” and “Install Later,” so you can secure pricing and make plans now while scheduling installation when it’s practical for your family.
