Hey friends! Since the start of the year I’ve been rearranging furniture nonstop. Anyone else feel that urge to refresh their home? I recently brought a piece of furniture into the dining room and I’ll share more photos of that room once I can snap them. Being at home more has made me notice how we use our spaces, and this year our needs have changed, so I’ve been rethinking layouts and function.
You might relate. First, my daughter Courtney moved into our lower level to save money and that prompted a shift in how we used other rooms. We thought we had the space sorted, but changes ripple through the house—especially if you don’t live in a huge home—so we were already in the middle of rearranging when another change happened.
My son had to leave his dorm because of the quarantine and moved back home, bringing everything he had at school. We’d already relocated items into his bedroom and into our guest room to make room downstairs, so once he returned we had to shuffle things around again. Empty nesters and downsizers, simplified living—well, it turned into a different kind of busy. Simplifying is still the goal, but when you’re managing other people’s belongings, work, and daily life at the same time, it becomes an ongoing process.
We don’t have a barn to store extras, so everything gets shuffled around inside the house. It’s time consuming and often a little chaotic, but also kind of funny. The bright side: we’re quarantining together and everyone is healthy, so no complaints. The extra time at home has been useful for rethinking how we use our rooms and for organizing. It feels good to be making progress.
Speaking of furniture and refreshing the house, I found a great decor sale today. Below I’m sharing some favorites I have in my home along with similar pieces that caught my eye.
Sales seem to be ongoing right now, so if you’ve been waiting to invest in a new piece and have room in your budget, it’s a good time to shop. I’ve rounded up my favorites at the end of this post, or you can head straight to the sale if you prefer. I hope this inspires fresh ideas for using what you already own and for choosing new items that work for your space.

I love these hooks for keeping us organized and saving space in our one cramped coat closet. They’re currently discounted and ship free in some finishes. There are other cute options too—I’m thinking of adding a brass hook to another hallway.

We’re spending so much more time in the living room lately. I love my slipcovered sofa, which is on a big sale now. I have the bench seat, slope arm, deeper depth, and warm white denim, and it’s been a reliable, durable piece for years—machine washable and available in many fabrics and colors.
The baskets above my sofa are a mix of secondhand finds, long-treasured pieces, and a few newer additions. If you want a pre-made set of wall baskets, there are attractive sets on sale today. My wood-and-metal tray has been a longtime staple for serving and for displays on a coffee or end table, and a similar brass floor lamp can update a corner nicely. A tray is great because you can move it where you need it.
People often ask about our leather ottoman; ours is older but very loved. I found a couple of similar ottomans that are currently on sale. Leather furniture is a favorite of mine for both comfort and longevity, and it’s held up well with pets in the house.

My leather sofa is one of my all-time favorite pieces. It’s aged beautifully and remains central to our living room. There are many leather options on sale right now if you’re considering a similar investment.

One of the most-asked-about decor items in my kitchen is a footed wood stand. I haven’t been able to find the exact one online, but there are similar footed trays available that add texture and help keep countertops organized. We use one for the coffee grinder and small appliances to create a tidy, styled look.

I’ve been hunting for new blue-and-white pillows for spring. I love reversible mudcloth pillows for their texture and versatility—they’re an easy way to refresh a sofa or bed.

If you need a dresser, there are great options that are both stylish and practical. I’ve moved my dresser between living room, guest room, and bedroom over the years; a good dresser is versatile and works well in many rooms—bedroom, dining room, or entryway.
Are you rearranging your home as much as we are? Tell me—I’d love to know we’re not the only ones making big shifts right now.
Here’s a roundup of more favorites that are on sale right now.
