Welcome back to The Snug — my office, family room, guest room and future playroom for the grand littles. We moved in two years ago, and for much of that time this room doubled as temporary storage while we finished other projects. For the past year especially it held furniture during our kitchen renovation, so I haven’t shared it much. Now that the work is done, it’s a joy to set the room up for everyday use again.
We love this space. I still smile when I see a ferry glide by outside the window. It feels good to have the room functional again and ready to enjoy.
You can watch a short video of this space below!

The Snug now has the same new hardwood floors installed throughout the rest of the house — real European White Oak, engineered. The new floors transformed the room and warmed the entire home. We’ll eventually add fresh paint or wallpaper, sconces, and window treatments, but for now we’re focused on arranging furniture and making the space comfortable.

Today I’m sharing the progress on this side of the room. Most pieces were already here, so this refresh is mainly about rearranging and refining the layout. We made a few switches — including removing one couch after moving the leather loveseat downstairs — and I’ll show more of those changes soon.

One new addition is a striped indoor/outdoor rug from the Amber Lewis × Loloi collection. It’s durable and beautiful, a great fit for a hardworking, multi-use room like this. I’ve been sharing more views of it on my Instagram stories for anyone who wants a closer look.

The rattan twin bed was moved from the opposite side of the room and looks lovely here. I might add a matching twin later, but for now the collected bedding and layered textiles give the bed a cozy, welcoming feel.

A small wooden oval stool is a surprisingly useful piece — it travels from room to room and works as a nightstand, end table, or an extra seat. My wicker trunk stores extra blankets and keeps the space tidy.

The French desk has been in the family for years and now doubles as a puzzle table — a favorite daily activity. The new white rattan chairs are lightweight and easy to move for extra seating when needed.

On one shelf you’ll find the books I’ve written. I keep them nearby for gifts and giveaways, and seeing them together is motivating. There are many more books to find places for, so I expect more rearranging in the future.
I’ll share the other side of the room soon. Little by little the house is coming together.
