Because my house is in complete disarray while we prepare for new paint and floors in several rooms, I’m not doing much summer decorating at the moment. I’m not complaining—far from it. I’m thrilled at the thought of how much brighter and cleaner the house will look in the coming weeks. It feels a bit like summer decorating, only more intense.
Today my bedroom is being painted, and next week the carpet comes out and new hardwood goes in. You have no idea how happy that makes me.
In the meantime, I’m scouring the web for decorating ideas for the freshly updated rooms.
I love sharing what I find because it’s more fun to talk about design with people who enjoy being inspired as much as I do.

This particular house has become my current obsession—my go-to source of inspiration.
Yes, I’m a little obsessed. I click through these photos frequently and reread the posts about this home multiple times. I’m sure I’m not the only one who loves it.
I’ve written about this house before, but I don’t think I’ve focused specifically on the bedroom until now.
So here it is—the bedroom that’s captured my imagination.
I would love to have a room like this, though my own bedroom will likely look very different. I can’t use yellowish wall tones because my existing floors have warm undertones that wouldn’t pair well.
Even if I can’t duplicate it exactly, I’m inspired by the colors, textures, and overall feeling of the space.
My room’s footprint is somewhat similar in shape, just smaller and with fewer windows. I do share similar door frames and a vaulted ceiling, which gives me hope. I’d love to eventually paint the wood ceiling white—that’s a project for another year. That ceiling fan in the inspiration room looks infinitely cooler than mine, and a yellow barn door leading to the bathroom would be a charming, unexpected touch.
This bright, summery bedroom is full of ideas I want to incorporate in my own way: light, airy layers; relaxed, casual styling; and a few bold accents to give the space personality.
That’s all for now—more updates to come as the renovation progresses.
Do you have a current favorite inspiration room?
PS. My blog has been running slowly, and I’m working to resolve the issue. I apologize for the delayed loads and any trouble pinning images. Thanks for your patience—and a big thank-you for all the kind words about my recently redecorated office. I’ll share sources and more details as soon as the site runs more smoothly.
