We’re keeping Thanksgiving quiet this year, just our little family at home. With remodeling going on, a calm, cozy holiday feels right: good food, a relaxed pace and time together. We’ll be cooking at my daughter Kylee’s townhouse since our stove won’t be ready for a few more weeks. Kylee will also share one of her favorite salads on the blog soon.
We’re also excited to get our Christmas tree this weekend. Cutting our own tree is a family tradition we cherish, and it always feels like the real start of the season. If you’re setting up your tree this weekend, I hope it brings you the same simple pleasure.
Back in September I signed up to take part in a virtual Christmas house tour on December 7. I had hoped our big projects would be finished by now, but plans change—that’s okay. Our holiday decorating stays intentionally simple, and only a few rooms are ready to be fully dressed. I actually started a bit of Christmas prep over the past few days so I’d be ready when the tree arrives. Simple decorating often looks best and keeps the season enjoyable instead of stressful.
