The Inspired Room - Fiddle Leaf Fig copy

Hello! I hope you had a wonderful week. Ours was busy and a little chaotic, but it’s Friday — so yay! Here’s a short update on what’s been happening around here lately.

My plants are thriving in our refreshed living room. The fiddle leaf fig surprised me by producing three new leaves — a first and a much-welcome sign that it’s happy and healthy. I’m honestly amazed it’s still alive and doing so well.

I’ve been relying on “Stress-Away” essential oil in the diffuser — it’s my little daily calm while several rooms and our side yard are mid-project. Balancing home updates with work has been a lot to juggle, but deep breaths: everything will get done and it will be worth the effort.

Lily the Labradoodle - The Inspired Room blog

Lily, our Labradoodle, doesn’t seem bothered by the mess. She can make a bed out of anything — painter’s tarps, a box of blinds — and looks perfectly content. She gave me a bit of a stink-eye in this photo, probably worrying I’d tell her to move. She’s weird and adorable and makes the chaos more lovable.

We’ve been sampling paint colors on walls in nearly every room, which is always a little jarring at first. The good news: paint decisions are finally made for each room. We have new artwork waiting to be hung that we love, and we hired a painter to finish several rooms so we can actually get everything done. Trying to do it all ourselves was taking too long, and getting on a painter’s schedule wasn’t easy, but they’ll be here next week.

Barnlight Electric Semi Flushmount

Our barn lights have arrived, and I can’t wait to see them installed in the front hall. I love the little black rim detail — they add a touch of farmhouse and coastal character that’s starting to shape the house’s overall feel.

I moved my office downstairs, and it already feels like the perfect fit. We’ve had a contractor out to make it an official room, so I’ll share a proper update soon once everything is organized and finished.

Today is the last day of school for my son Luke, and we’re excited to start summer vacation. I can hardly believe he just finished his freshman year of high school — time really flies. He was just a toddler when I began this blog, and I’m planning to savor every minute we have together this summer.

Speaking of the blog, my ninth anniversary is coming up in a few weeks. I’m so grateful to everyone who has followed along over the years and to new readers who recently joined. I’ll have a special anniversary post soon to celebrate year ten, and I’m excited to share lots of house projects that will be introduced in the coming weeks and months.

Happy weekend, friends! See you back here next week for more kitchen inspiration and house project updates.
