YYou may have noticed this in my side patio makeover post, but we are no longer gateless in Seattle.
Creating and installing the gate was one of those projects full of hiccups and small setbacks. Like many of our side patio updates, it took far longer than expected. In fact, it took years to get the patio finished and the gate in place.
At a certain point I decided to adopt a “better done than perfect” approach. I love design and the ongoing process of improving our spaces, but I also value living in rooms that feel complete. Even though I’ll keep making tweaks over time because that’s part of the fun, it’s wonderful to reach a stage where a space feels “finished enough.”
Right now we’re enjoying every moment out here.
This is the view into our side patio through the little gate window. Perfect or imperfect, a finished space feels peaceful and wonderful.
There are still a few projects I want to tackle in this area, and I’ll share those updates soon. In the meantime, you can find me here sipping lemonade and enjoying the patio all summer long.
