My Dog Chewed the Camera Cord: Hilarious Excuses for Missing Photos

I’ve been meaning to publish another blog post soon — truly, I have — but life has been a little chaotic.

Between unexpected disasters, new puppy mayhem, traveling across the country without my computer, juggling several large creative projects, and preparing for our church relaunch in a new building (I have photos on my camera I can’t wait to share), it’s been hard to find my blogging rhythm. To top it off, my computer gave up and Jack chewed through my camera cord, so I’ve lost access to many photos.

In all the craziness, I even forgot to host my usual Fall Nesting Party in early September. That was a miss. I’ll open a link-up on Friday the 16th so you can add your fall nesting posts — whether that’s a little seasonal refresh at home or a project from last year. Please join the party on Friday the 16th!

Because of the camera cord and computer problems, I did a quick Drive By in downtown Charleston and on Hilton Head that I can’t fully share yet (except for this one photo that uploaded). I’m posting from my husband’s computer for now, but it looks like I’ll need to replace my Mac soon. RIP, old Mac. When it rains, it pours.

The bright side: I had a wonderful time in Hilton Head with other writers from (in)courage. We spent the weekend dreaming about the future and envisioning possibilities. I borrowed a few photos from fellow attendees for this post since my own images are trapped on my camera.

DaySpring and the Hilton Head Island Chamber of Commerce hosted the (in)courage writers for a long weekend of planning and community building, with time for relaxation and fun. Resort Rentals of Hilton Head Island provided beautiful beachfront accommodations. I’m grateful to DaySpring for their generous care and to Jessica Gardo from the Hilton Head Island Chamber of Commerce for coordinating the trip so seamlessly.

It was a meaningful weekend, and I feel blessed to have been part of it.

Looking ahead, (in)courage and DaySpring are planning an in-person beach-style (un)conference for bloggers and readers worldwide in 2012. I hope you’ll consider attending. I expect to host a local meetup at our church building so area readers can stop by and say hello. You can sign up for the webcast portion of the event through the inrl.us site. It promises to be a lot of fun and a great chance to connect.

Thank you for sticking with me through the recent disasters. Despite the setbacks, August turned out to be the biggest month yet in my four years with The Inspired Room, even though I posted less than usual. I have no idea how that happened — maybe you prefer fewer posts and more reading. Perhaps this broken computer and camera cord will turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Ha!

Sending much love. I’m happy that fall has finally arrived — I enjoyed cool breezes through my window today. Don’t forget to link up a Fall Nesting post this Friday!

Frequently asked question in the comments: Doesn’t Jack have any dog toys or bones to play with?

Answer: Yes. But he prefers non-dog toys like paper, cords and feet.
