Ch-ch-changes! It’s the season for rearranging and making the home cozier. I’ve been on my usual pre-Thanksgiving mission to refresh our space and prepare for gatherings.
If you’ve followed The Inspired Room for a while, you know how this time of year inspires me—nothing is off-limits when it comes to changing up a room.
Today I’m excited to introduce our new linen slipcovered sofa from Sixpenny.

With our son now in college and living on campus, we’re rethinking how to create a home that serves us well in this new season. An “empty nest” brings small adjustments and fresh opportunities to evolve our rooms thoughtfully.

Although things will be in transition throughout the house for a bit, it’s all with a purpose: to make each room functional, welcoming, and beautiful for how we actually live.
We’ll share updates as we make changes and try new ideas—there are some fun things coming.

The new slipcovered sofa from Sixpenny feels like it belongs here already. It fits naturally into our living room and will be a comfortable focal point for everyday life and gatherings.
On their site, Sixpenny describes their slipcovered pieces as life-friendly, battle-tested, and easy to swap—qualities we appreciate, especially with dogs and family frequently in and out of the house.
This sofa is even cozier than we expected. It’s the Neva Sofa (84″) in Medium Weight Linen Jasmine Rice with Feather Down Fill, and the plush cushions make it very inviting.

The color is a soothing linen-gray neutral that pairs easily with seasonal colors, patterns, and textures. The feather down-filled cushions add a soft, relaxed look that invites people to settle in.

Placed beneath the windowsill, it creates a lovely spot for lounging and enjoying the view. It’s part of a comfortable conversation area that will be perfect for hosting friends and family.
We originally considered placing the sofa on the opposite side of the room and may still rearrange things, but when it was positioned here we immediately loved it. For now, this is where it feels right.

The size also works well as an occasional guest bed, which is handy since I’m hosting overnight guests for Thanksgiving and need extra sleeping space.

Some of you may be wondering about the dogs and where their daybed went. Rest assured, they were consulted and approve—very happy with the new arrangement. The daybed remains in the house if they want to curl up on it for old times’ sake.

I’m also exploring other pieces from Sixpenny—there are several items I like that would complement this sofa and our layered, neutral living room aesthetic.
We’re excited to enjoy our cozy conversation area and the people we love gathered there next week.
