Drive-By Tour of Lake Oswego Neighborhoods

Most of my life has been tied to Lake Oswego, Oregon. It’s the place that always feels like home. I grew up there, my husband and I lived there when we were newly married, and we raised our daughters there before moving to Eastmoreland, where we welcomed our son.

My parents still live in Lake Oswego, so we visit often. Although the houses we once lived in are gone or changed, driving through those neighborhoods still brings back so many memories.

Last week we took a drive around some of those old streets. I thought I’d share a few of the houses we passed—some favorites I’ve admired for years.

This one has always been one of my all-time favorites on the lake.

Lake Oswego

So charming, isn’t it? It’s just around the corner from a house we lived in during my high school years, so I used to pass it often—by car or by boat.

Across the lake (above) you can just make out the house I lived in. It was such a beautiful home and holds so many memories.

There are so many memories tied to this lake—summers, family gatherings, and quiet mornings watching the water.

One house we passed was for sale in a neighborhood where we lived years ago with our girls. It still felt familiar, even from the curb.

I loved the garage on that property; from the side it looked like a quaint guesthouse.

Charming white fence in hedge. Striped awnings.

This was a former neighbor’s home, one I’ve shared on the blog before. It’s a house I’ve always adored, and it remains just as charming.

The scent of jasmine filled the air in several spots—one of my favorite fragrances that immediately brings me back to warm summer evenings.

Many homes had flags flying. The Fourth of July is always a festive time around the lake, with bright banners and neighborhood celebrations.

I enjoy drive-bys like this, but they also make me a little homesick. Still, I’m grateful for the many happy memories this place holds.

Do you ever feel homesick for neighborhoods you think of as “home”?
