What’s your favorite style?
I find that putting your favorite decorating style into words helps create a clearer vision for how you want your home to look and feel.
Being able to describe what you love most makes decision-making much easier.
Recognizing that a style you like might not be the perfect fit for your current home can be liberating—it’s okay to adjust your direction.
Giving yourself permission to make a course correction or move toward a more defined style can feel freeing and help you create a space you truly enjoy.
I often feel pulled between several styles because I love so many. When I’m in nesting mode in the fall and winter, I can be dangerous in a decor shop (or even my own home) without some self-imposed guidelines.
Loving many looks doesn’t mean you must include all of them in your home. I enjoy mixing styles and keeping enough flexibility to stay creative, but it helps to have boundaries so the space feels cohesive.
You might pin lots of images of one type of home on Pinterest but prefer or actually live in a different style in real life.
That’s perfectly fine. Sometimes styles that look great in photos don’t translate well to your own space, and recognizing that helps you make choices that work for your life.
My home and style are always evolving, so I periodically reassess what I like to stay on track toward a home I truly love.
