Dream Bathroom Remodel vs. Simple Refresh: Which Fits Your Home?

Williams and Spade: Jeanne Racioppi, Williams & Spade Interior Design

I stumbled across this beautiful bathroom while researching remodeling ideas and it stopped me in my tracks. The sink is stunning, the ceiling adds unexpected character, and the brick floor paired with a soft rug looks both practical and inviting. It’s exactly the kind of space that makes you want to linger.

I’ve been collecting ideas for updating my master bathroom for a long time. Although my plan was always to update each room over time to reflect our style, weighing the cost and effort of moving made it sensible to keep the bathroom mostly intact and focus on a light refresh—new paint and carefully chosen accessories can go a long way. Our bathroom hasn’t changed since we moved in, but because the house is newer it functions well and simply needs a little personality. Creating a space as special as the one in the photo would be wonderful, but often a straightforward refresh is all that’s required. This is one of those projects.

The moment has finally arrived to refresh the last room in our house: the master bathroom.

This week I’ll share a before photo and the ideas I have for a simple makeover. My goal is to finish within a couple of weeks, assuming I actually begin—so I should probably sign off and get to work. Challenge accepted: computer off, bathroom refresh on.

Which room makeover are you dreaming about but haven’t started yet? What simple changes could you make this week to get the project moving?

PS: I’ll also be sharing updates soon for our backyard, gathering room, and dining room—stay tuned for those projects.
