Reclaimed Wood Lamp with Himmeli Shade DIY

Hello! Do you see that striking lamp in the photo above?

I’m excited to share that I will be co-hosting a Lamps & Lighting DIY Workshop on July 12 from 10:00–11:30 AM at The Home Depot store in Bellevue, WA.

Can you guess what I’ll be making and bringing to the workshop? I’m thrilled — and a little nervous — to reveal that I’ll be creating my own version of the Instructables contest winner’s lamp.

Recently The Home Depot partnered with Instructables for a Lamps & Lighting contest. The lamp pictured above won based on clarity, ingenuity, creativity, and quality of presentation and execution. Natalie from Doodlecraft crafted the Himmeli shade using coffee stir sticks — a wonderfully clever touch. Full DIY instructions for the reclaimed wood lamp and Himmeli shade are available from the contest winner.

I’ll be adapting that project for the workshop and sharing my process with attendees. I plan to post my version here afterward so you can follow along or try it yourself.

The Home Depot offers free workshops for DIYers of every age and skill level who want to expand their home project know-how. If you’re interested in attending a workshop, you can find and register for sessions through The Home Depot’s DIY Workshops registration page. Here are the location details for the workshop I’ll be co-hosting:
