Hi friends, Courtney here (Melissa’s daughter)! I’m thrilled to welcome you to our new home. After years of renting, my husband, our son, and I have just moved into a house that we share with my parents-in-law.
A few years ago my parents-in-law suggested the idea of living together and it immediately felt right. We stayed in our rented townhouse while taking our time to find a home that would work for all of us.
Enter… The Lake House.

This house is exactly what we hoped for and more. There’s a basement apartment with a separate entrance where my parents-in-law live, while my husband, our son, and I live in the main part of the house.
Having three generations under one roof is truly a special gift.

The view here felt like an unexpected blessing. My husband and I used to imagine what it would be like to live near a lake, but we never expected to wake up to this. Having a lake, mountains, mature trees, and wide sky instead of parking lots or neighboring buildings makes the space feel peaceful and restorative. We are so grateful.

We’re excited to begin this new chapter of home ownership. We plan to stay here for a long time — a family home to settle into and gradually make our own.

We don’t anticipate major renovations — thankfully we already love much of the house — but we do have long-term ideas and plenty of small projects ahead. Making a home cozy and personal is one of my favorite things, and the chance to do that in a place we own and expect to keep is incredibly exciting.

This is just a first look at our lake home — a quick peek. There’s so much more to share, and I can’t wait to take you along as we shape this house into our home.
I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes updates as we explore our “lake house style” inside HomeBody Gathering Place.
