Day 9 of Inspired Holidays: Treasures to Collect and Cherish

Ralph Lauren

One of my most shared posts from a few years back was a short, honest list called 20 Little Things to Treasure in Autumn. It wasn’t flashy or overproduced — just a straightforward typed list of small seasonal pleasures. That simplicity is part of its charm.

Despite being plain and unadorned, the list resonated with many readers and was reposted on popular sites like Apartment Therapy. It inspired others to make their own lists of seasonal favorites. Often the simplest ideas are the ones that stick with us and influence the people around us the most.

I recently shared a link to that post on Facebook. If you haven’t seen it or want to revisit it, my 2008 20 Little Things to Treasure list is still available. The photos alone make me want to curl up in a cozy bed with a good book.

Every autumn I look at that list to remind myself of what I love about the season. It helps keep perspective and steers me away from worrying about unimportant details.

I like to include sensory experiences on my autumn lists — things that smell, sound, taste, or feel a certain way — because those impressions tend to form stronger, longer-lasting memories.

Before autumn fades and Thanksgiving becomes a memory, what are the things that matter most to you this season?

I make seasonal lists often, but autumn remains my favorite. Making a list can be a gentle way to refocus on the people, moments, and small comforts that mean the most.

What do you treasure most in this season? Write a list or share a few items in the comments — it’s a simple, meaningful way to remember what truly matters.

I hope these ideas help you feel inspired for the season and for everything ahead. Thanks for stopping by!
