I’m thrilled to share our Coastal Christmas mantel for 2023 — expect lots of photos! Our holiday style has long been a blend of forest and sea, which feels perfectly at home here on the Washington coast where trees and ocean are always nearby.

For the mantel we combined familiar favorites: cedar garland with pine cones, collected seashells, our little brass fox and bunny figurines clutching shells, animal stocking holders, blue battery taper candles, striped ribbon, and warm string lights. These elements keep the look cozy and coastal while still feeling festive.

We also added vintage blue and green glass floats to the mantel. I usually tuck them in a large decorative shell, but this year they felt right among the greenery and shells, adding a subtle coastal touch.

One of my favorite places to find coastal decor is Cailini Coastal. They kindly sent a box of Christmas items this season, and several of those pieces made it onto our mantel and into other spots around the room.
I’ll share photos and the items we used from Cailini Coastal as well as other sources below.
Note: Cailini Coastal is running a holiday sale on their seasonal items this weekend.

From Cailini Coastal we added two blue velvet stockings and several hand-painted gilded oyster shell ornaments featuring coastal-themed designs like a nutcracker and a lighthouse. These exclusive ornaments are hand-painted in the USA and pair nicely with the natural materials on the mantel.

They’re so lovely in person — delicate and full of coastal character.

We also added an abalone shell and pearl tabletop tree. It’s small and charming — a delicate accent that complements the shells and glass on the mantel.

We’ll still add a full Christmas tree in this room, though space is a bit tight. For now I like keeping things simple: window candles, layered greenery, and a few porch stars to hang soon.

This room is cozy and a favorite spot for the family — including the dogs. Though space is limited, we’ll likely squeeze in a tree because we love gathering here during the holidays.

I’m also planning a simple winter dining table to complement the main floor decorating now that our renovation is complete. If you missed the kitchen reveal, there’s a post with photos and details showing the updated space. I’m excited to add holiday touches there as well.
I’ll share a follow-up post about our new bamboo shades soon — stay tuned.
