Back when we lived in our Portland house, I installed wall sconces beside the bed — and I loved them. They made the bedroom feel cozy and added a lot of character. In fact, I appreciate wall lights in almost every room: they create warmth and personality while also serving a practical purpose.
We’ve used wall lights in our kitchens before and plan to again, but what I especially value is how sconces free up nightstand space. In small bedrooms every surface matters, and mounting lights on the wall keeps bedside surfaces available for lamps, books, chargers, or decor.
Lately I’ve been hunting for the perfect sconces for our guest room and possibly our main bedroom. Both rooms are compact and would benefit from bedside lighting that’s stylish and space-saving.
I’m inspired by the bedroom shown above from New England Home — the bed is very similar to mine — and I’ve gathered several sconce styles I like as well as photo inspiration for wall sconces beside beds. At the end of this post I’ve collected sources so you can shop the looks.
Enjoy the ideas and inspiration!

Sincerely, Marie Designs

Do you love wall sconces as much as I do? I’d happily have them in every room — they add charm and useful light.
Happy Memorial Day. I’m deeply grateful to those who sacrificed their lives for our freedoms.
