Come on in—I’m excited to join this Farmhouse Holiday Fall Dining Room tour as a special guest. The invitation inspired me to style my dining room for fall, and I’ve been enjoying the seasonal nesting spirit. I’ve even begun an annual fall nesting series if you’re curious.
Make yourself at home. Our space is cozy and a bit snug, but there’s room for everyone to gather around the table. Cozy is the point, after all.

When decorating for a season or holiday I usually keep things simple. That doesn’t mean I don’t love an elaborate tablescape—sometimes I do—but simplicity fits my style and how I like to live. I change my home often, so simple touches that can be shifted or swapped feel right.
My fall decorating began in the kitchen with a new rug. The kitchen and dining room are small, connected areas, so creating a cohesive fall vibe across both rooms made sense.
This is our first autumn with the remodeled kitchen, and I wanted to add seasonal touches that flow into the dining room. As the kitchen took on a fall feel, I began imagining how the dining room should look—connected visually and physically through the archway between the rooms.
One of the easiest ways to add warmth is a tablecloth—mine is from HomeGoods. It’s a quick change that instantly softens the table and sets the tone.
I also found a woven pumpkin at HomeGoods and brought it home. Real pumpkins weren’t plentiful yet, and I like that this woven pumpkin won’t rot. It will last through the season and feels like a thrifty, practical accent.
For the table I mostly used pieces I already own. Sometimes I give myself a ten-minute limit to “shop my house” for decor—it’s a fun way to force quick decisions and creative mixing. Often the results are exactly what I want.
It doesn’t take much to put me in a fall mood.
I paired blue-and-white dishes with plum napkins for a subtle autumn twist. Wooden chargers add warmth and complement the woven pumpkin centerpiece.
When I added gold flatware it needed a little cohesion, so I placed a small brass tray under the pumpkin. That elevated the centerpiece and tied the metallic accents together.
To bring more warmth into the room I added brass lanterns on the buffet and arranged a few perennials in a basket for seasonal color. Small touches like these create an inviting atmosphere.
I layered cozy textures around the room: fuzzy sweater pillows on the banquette, velvet pillows, and a knit throw on a chair. Layering different textures is my favorite way to decorate for fall—it instantly reads cozy and lived-in.
On a closer look you might spot an unexpected guest.
