WI live with a very small linen closet — more accurately, a tiny linen cabinet — and it’s simply not large enough for everything we need to store. Because of that, I’ve learned to be resourceful and use other storage areas around the house to accommodate extra sheets, towels and bedding.
If you’ve been wondering how to make the most of limited linen storage, these beautiful ideas and clever organization tips will give you fresh inspiration.
(No linen closet? Don’t worry — shallow under-bed storage bags are a surprisingly effective solution for linens.)

Tips for better linen storage
Start by decluttering: remove worn sheets, mismatched pillowcases and items you no longer use. Sort linens by category — towels, sheets, blankets — and then group them by size or room. Use baskets, clear bins or labeled containers to keep stacks neat and easy to access. Rolling towels or folding sheets the same way creates uniform stacks that fit better on shelves.
If your closet is shallow or cramped, consider these options: add extra shelving, mount slim hooks on the inside of the door for small items, store seasonal or spare linens in decorative armoires or cabinets, or use vacuum storage bags for bulky comforters. Under-bed bins and closet organizers are also great ways to reclaim unused space.
Styling and finishing touches
A little styling goes a long way. Lining shelves or adding wallpaper inside a linen closet brightens the space and makes it feel intentional. Matching baskets or woven bins create a cohesive look, while simple labels keep everything easy to find. For a decorative touch, fold a few pretty guest towels or display a favorite throw on the top shelf.
