Greetings! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We did — and for the first time we were able to use our kitchen on Christmas Day. It was an exciting milestone, though the week leading up to it was hectic.
Besides the usual last-minute rush before the holidays — wrapping gifts, running errands — our house was full of contractors. With so much work happening (including new exterior doors being installed until late on Christmas Eve), the place was chaotic. Since it was freezing outside and the house was a construction zone, we decided to stay in and order dinner one afternoon.
We had used Uber for rides around Seattle before, but had not tried UberEATS until then. With a credit on our account, we decided to give it a go and ordered a big family meal.
UberEATS is simple to use. We opened the app on our phones and saw a list of nearby restaurants with full menus. After choosing one of our favorites, we selected items, paid by card through the app, and received a confirmation with an estimated delivery time. We were even able to track the delivery in real time. Before long, our food arrived at the door.
The meal arrived hot and fresh. The best part was sitting together in the living room and enjoying dinner without any prep or cleanup. Instead of firing up an electric skillet in the basement, we relaxed while someone else picked up and delivered our food. From order to table it took roughly 33 minutes.
With our refrigerators already full from planned holiday meals, it felt like a treat to have dinner delivered during a particularly busy time. There was no mess to clean up and everyone could unwind. We’ll definitely use UberEATS again — especially on nights when being in the kitchen feels overwhelming. It’s also a thoughtful way to send a meal to someone else, like a new parent or someone recovering from surgery.
