31 Days of Autumn Bliss — Day 17: Drive Through Queen Anne Hill

My husband and I fell in love with this house on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle. It feels like the kind of grand, well-loved family home you imagine being passed down through generations. If only that inheritance included the time and money for maintenance, yard work and general upkeep — a dream, but a nice one to have.

Photographing the house was a challenge because tall hedges and mature trees shielded most of it from view. I almost wanted to hop the barrier and capture the hidden details, but I stuck to the sidewalk and the few glimpses I could get. Even so, the hint of what lay behind the greenery made it obvious how special the property is.

I couldn’t help but wonder about the room behind that beautiful, oversized window. The roofline is striking here too, with classic architectural details that make the house feel timeless.

This is the quiet street in front of the home. Drive-by photos like these aren’t always straightforward — when a house is tucked behind greenery, a casual drive past won’t reveal its best angles. To truly showcase a place like this you’d need to get a little creative with vantage points, or accept the mystery the landscaping provides.

Large, mature trees add character and privacy, concealing much of the home’s right side and creating a sense of secluded charm.

The front entry looked especially inviting, but it was tucked away behind landscaping and difficult to photograph from the street. Perhaps the owners prefer it that way — a private welcome that you discover as you approach.
