Hello friends! Courtney here. It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a year since I moved into my sister’s townhouse. I wanted to share a long-overdue peek at my tiny room. My mom often writes about “slow decorating,” and living through this process has taught me the same lesson: good design takes time, patience, and a bit of budget-savvy decision-making. I’m pleased with the progress I’ve made on my design plan and glad I didn’t rush anything.
My room is very small—about 9′ x 9′ with an angled wall and a screen door taking up most of one side. At first I wasn’t sure a bed would even fit, which posed a real problem for using it as a bedroom. After careful measuring I realized a daybed could work, so I began hunting for one that would fit the space, suit my style, and stay within my budget.

After weeks of searching, measuring, and weighing options, I chose the Window Daybed from West Elm. I couldn’t be happier with it. I had West Elm deliver and assemble the bed, which saved time and spared me some frustration, and it fit the room perfectly. I love the detailing on the side rails and how the design keeps the space feeling open and airy.
In a room this small, every item matters. I was selective about each piece, bringing in only items I truly loved. That care has made the room a place I enjoy spending time in. I’ll share a full room tour soon so you can see the finished space. ***UPDATE: See my finished room tour HERE!
If you’re shopping for a daybed, check the sources above. Several options include trundles or convert to larger beds, which is ideal for guest rooms.
