Hello, friends! I took a few days off to celebrate Thanksgiving with family. It was wonderful to slow down, relax, and enjoy great food. For the record, my 24-pound turkey turned out perfectly browned, juicy, and cooked to the right temperature — a definite success.
Even though the break was refreshing, I missed chatting with you here. I’m so excited that December is finally here — yay! Now that I’m back, I’m ready to dive into Christmas decorating and all the festive posts I love to share. I didn’t finish the last three days of my Loving Fall series as planned in November because family time took priority, so we’ll just pick that back up another year. You know I love fall enough for all the days, but for now it’s time for holiday cheer.

Have I mentioned you’re all invited to a virtual Christmas tour next Monday? I guess I need to get busy! I’m looking forward to turning on Charlie Brown and decking the halls.
With holiday sales starting, I wanted to share a few practical tips for shopping for home accessories. If your storage is limited and you’re mindful of budget, you can’t buy everything you love. Smart choices matter — but with so many tempting seasonal items, it can be hard to decide what’s worth investing in.
Here are two simple questions I ask myself to decide whether to buy home decor:
1. Is this item season-less?
I always prefer decor that works year-round. I don’t have the room or patience to store lots of pieces, so items that can be dressed up for the holidays and then simplified for everyday use are much more appealing. For example, wood candlesticks are perfect in any season — swap out candles for different colors or styles to make them feel festive for winter or bright for summer. Candlesticks are a versatile win. (They’re also on sale today, which is a nice bonus.)

2. Could this item work in more than one room?
Versatility is another big plus. When I bought a rustic wood starburst mirror, I initially planned to hang it in the laundry room. On the way home I realized it would look great with my rustic Christmas decor too. Because it’s season-less and can be used in multiple spots around the house, it felt like an instant win.
I’ve talked myself into — and out of — many purchases by asking these two simple questions.
That said, it’s also fun to bring out special seasonal pieces that you enjoy for a few months each year. I keep a shelf in the garage for seasonal decor and love pulling out old favorites to layer with my everyday basics.
