Hello friends! It’s Courtney. It’s hard to believe it’s almost been a year since I moved into my sister’s townhouse, and I finally wanted to share a peek at my room. My mom often talks about “slow decorating,” and that idea has been true for me as I’ve worked on this space. Decorating rarely happens as fast as I wish or as quickly as my budget allows, but taking my time has paid off.
My room is tiny—about 9′ x 9′ with an angled wall and a screen door taking up much of one side. At first I didn’t think a bed would even fit, which is kind of important for a bedroom. After measuring carefully, I realized a daybed would work, so I began hunting for one that fit the space and my budget.
(This photo was taken right before I moved in last summer.)
After weeks of searching, measuring and weighing options, I chose the Window Daybed from West Elm. I couldn’t be happier. I had West Elm deliver and assemble it, which saved a lot of time and frustration. The daybed fits the space perfectly, and I love the detailing on the side rails. It manages to feel substantial yet keeps the room open and airy.
In a room this small every piece counts, so I was intentional about choosing only items I truly loved. Being selective has made the room a place I genuinely enjoy spending time in. I’ll share a full room tour soon so you can see the progress. ***UPDATE: See my finished room tour HERE.
If you’re shopping for a daybed, check the sources I gathered above. Some models include a trundle or convert to a larger bed, which is great for guest rooms.
