Glidden Paint Review and Giveaway (Now Closed)

The Inspired Room Coffee Station Paint color: Glidden Polished Grey

For readers who have followed my blog, you know we tackled a lot of painting in our previous home. Although the house was new when we bought it, the builder’s paint choice wasn’t one we loved. The finish looked flat and worn from the start, so we decided to repaint almost every room to make the spaces feel fresh and more like our home.

Over six and a half years we painted every room at least once, and often more than once while hunting for the perfect color. We even began repainting trim, though we didn’t get through every room before we moved. The painting process can be messy and sometimes tedious, but the transformation that paint brings makes it worthwhile.

After painting so many rooms over the years, I learned that paint quality matters. When you’re investing time and money into a painting project, you want reliable performance: good coverage, a beautiful finish, and durability. We chose Glidden paint for many of our busiest and most loved rooms — the family room, bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry room and TV room — and we found it held up very well over time.

The Glidden-painted rooms required minimal maintenance and didn’t need repainting during the years we lived there. The paint applied smoothly and usually covered in one to two coats, depending on the previous color and surface. It cleaned up easily, which is essential in high-traffic areas and rooms with kids or pets. That combination of appearance, coverage, and cleanability kept us happy with the results.

Wall paint: Glidden Polished Grey, Ceiling paint: Glidden Wood Smoke

I like revisiting past projects to report on how products perform over time, and Glidden did not disappoint. I’ll continue using it in our new home because the finish and durability give me confidence. The product we used most often is Glidden Duo, a paint-and-primer-in-one. For walls I usually choose an eggshell sheen for its subtle luster and durability; in less-used spaces I sometimes prefer a flat finish for a softer look.

When planning a painting project, consider the room’s use and how much wear it will see. In high-traffic spaces, choose a paint with good washability and stain resistance. For ceilings and less-used rooms, flatter sheens can create a cozy, muted effect. Proper surface preparation, quality tools, and the right number of coats also make a big difference in the final result.

If you’re deciding on color, take samples into the space and view them at different times of day. Lighting dramatically affects how a color reads. Small swatches or sample pots allow you to live with a color for a few days before committing. If you want a cohesive home palette, pick a few complementary shades and repeat them in different rooms to create flow.

We found that investing a little more in paint that applies well and covers thoroughly paid off with fewer touch-ups and longer-lasting results. Whether you’re refreshing a single room or tackling a whole house, prioritizing quality paint and proper technique will save time and frustration in the long run. The reward is a finished space that feels intentional and inviting.
