If you’ve followed my blog for a while or read Love the Home You Have, you already know I’m a daydreamer who believes in fairytales—especially when it comes to homes and happily-ever-afters. I enjoy imagining storybook settings and bringing those visions to life in little illustrated scenes.
That sense of whimsy led me to create these fairytale-style illustrations of the cozy, hopeful life I picture. Because my stove is named after Beatrix Potter, it felt only natural to turn everyday moments into charming, vintage-like vignettes.
This trend of transforming photos into storybook illustrations has been growing on Instagram, and I’ve had so much fun experimenting with the look. The illustrations aim for the gentle warmth and delicate detail of early 20th-century children’s books while keeping the scenes grounded in real home life.

Interested in creating one yourself? It’s easier than you might think. You can use generative tools to convert a photo into a vintage-style illustration—aim for the soft palettes, subtle textures, and gentle line work associated with classic children’s book art from the early 1900s.
Happy weekend, friends. Keep dreaming and hold on to that playful, never-grow-up spirit.
