HHey friends! Welcome — come on in. I’m inviting you to see our Christmas decorating, even though I haven’t finished everything yet. This year I’m keeping things simple, so the trees and entry still need a little work. Real life comes first, but I’m glad you stopped by. Here’s what I’ve done so far.
I swapped the green shutter above the fireplace for a mirror to warm up the room. I’m a cozy-house person, and adding the brown tone of the mirror helped winterize the mantel and make the space feel softer.

Remember when my garland fell down? Instead of rehanging it I used a simple snowflake garland and I love the lighter look it creates. It feels fresh and festive without being fussy.

Mercury glass ornaments add soft shimmer throughout the room. Their silvery glow brings a delicate, wintry sparkle to the mantel and tabletops.

During a Thanksgiving snowstorm our power went out and we turned the chairs to face the fireplace so we could snuggle close. It was so cozy I left them like that for a while — a simple layout change that makes cold nights feel special.

I refreshed an existing wreath with a light dusting of faux snow and layered a second wreath with white berries on top. Same wreath, new look.

I was missing a touch of red, so when my new pillow arrived it brought the color and warmth the room needed. Small accents can make a big difference.

I wish I had a better night camera, but you can still see how everything glows after dark. I love swapping lamps for little trees in corners to add soft, festive light.

Fuzzy blankets are the best for evenings by the fire. I found this one at Pier One and it’s become a favorite for chilly nights.

Family movie night with popcorn and Buddy the Elf is a holiday tradition here.

Playful foot fights on the sofa are part of the fun after the movie ends.
In the dining room I added a small sprig of greenery to a pitcher on the armoire. And yes, if you look up you’ll notice the paint near the molding is still not finished — projects in progress around here!

Despite the unfinished trim, I’m loving the new dining room color. We painted with Behr All in One Studio Taupe and it completely changed the feel of the room. I’ll do a detailed dining room post someday — promise.

I planned to finish several themed trees this week, but so far only one is decorated. The humble silver spoon tree is up and it’s a favorite — I’ll finish more trees soon.

I arranged a small vignette with a mercury glass candlestick, a mirror, and a cloche. A few ornaments under the cloche make it instantly festive and elegant.

I painted over an old oil painting to create a chalkboard and wrote Christmas words in a subway style with a white chalk marker. Those pens are addictive and add a clean, graphic touch to seasonal decor.
Our living room wouldn’t be complete without drums — we live here and our life includes musical instruments. At least they’re sparkly for the holidays.

I made a felt wreath for a bedroom door and love how it turned out. It was an easy project and feels warm and cozy on the door.

Little bits of decor scattered around the house are what make it feel lived-in and festive.

There’s a jingle-bell mason jar in the kitchen for a cheerful, simple touch.

I baked gingerbread men for a church party. While a tray waited on a chair, our senior pup managed to swipe a cookie — he’s sneaky but completely irresistible.

Winston sends his love and wishes you a very Merry Christmas. I’ll share more as I finish decorating and I’m also preparing a post with tips for hosting holiday guests.
Happy Christmas house touring this week!
