One of the guiding principles I follow at home is that I don’t need to overdecorate — I simply make everyday items more beautiful. Small, thoughtful touches bring a sense of calm and warmth, especially during the fall and winter months when I’m spending more time inside nesting and tending to the home.
I love focusing on the little details of daily life. If my coffee mugs are pretty enough to hang on a rack, my hand towels look inviting stacked in a basket by the sink, and my cooking utensils are attractive enough to sit out on the counter or hang on a wall, then decorating becomes effortless: use what you already have. Simplicity is beautiful.
This approach reflects my favorite style — less fuss, more simple beauty, and genuine appreciation for the items I use every day. We spend so much time in the kitchen; choosing pieces we truly enjoy makes routine tasks more pleasant and home life more satisfying.
It takes time to collect things you love, and patience is part of creating a home that feels personal and well-lived. I’m drawn to objects that are both artful and functional, especially pieces with natural textures. This season, texture is my favorite way to add warmth and cozy charm to the kitchen.

Recently, the family behind Polder’s Old World Market sent me a set of hand-carved, one-of-a-kind wooden spoons as a gift, and I was delighted. I have a soft spot for wooden spoons, and these are truly special. Each spoon is unique — handcrafted pieces that are beautiful enough to display rather than hide away in a drawer.
I especially love the contrast of warm wood cutting boards, these carved spoons, and wooden bowls against a crisp white kitchen. They bring a simple, natural warmth to the space and are a pleasure to use.
The spoons are finished only with pure olive oil, which preserves the natural color and grain of the wood. They’re all-natural and built to last, intended to be used and enjoyed for generations. They also make thoughtful gifts for someone you care about — or a lovely treat for yourself. The shop offers many other handcrafted items that fit a cozy, timeless kitchen aesthetic.
