Once upon a time I found a beautiful green garden stool at a flea market. I could hardly believe my luck. I had been searching for green accents to add richness and depth to my color palette, and this stool felt like the perfect find.

Unfortunately, my excitement didn’t last. My husband accidentally broke the dark green garden stool. He rarely breaks things, but when it happens it’s usually one of my favorites. He once broke a turquoise textured lamp in our entry as well; I still miss both pieces.
Since that mishap, I’ve been back on the hunt for green accessories. Finding a deep forest green with the right tone and finish has been tougher than I expected, though trends are shifting and green is becoming more popular again.
Green has always been one of my favorite colors. Our first house featured a lot of green—think classic hunter green and English country style. My little cottage felt cozy and charming, even if it seemed a bit old-fashioned to some. I loved it.
I also miss a green barn light I once had in the laundry room. I wish I had taken it with me when we moved. It’s amazing how many little decorating losses can pile up and still sting.
On a brighter note, I keep searching for ways to bring green back into my home. While scrolling Pinterest for ideas I found a room I adore (the image at the top of this post). The green touches there are subtle: a lamp, decorative birds on the coffee table, green apples, artwork with green tones on a stairway gallery wall, and a few green books. The mix of colors and textures feels calm and layered—exactly the vibe I want.

I’ve already introduced green in a few ways: botanical art in the entry, plants throughout the house, green velvet pillows, some green-toned bowls, and an occasionally used rug with green hues in the kitchen. These elements make the spaces feel fresher and more intentional.
I still want to add more green, but it has to be the right pieces—well-made, with the right shade and texture. So the hunt continues. Below you’ll find a selection of green accessories I’ve come across during my search.
Do you use or want to bring more green into your home? Have you lost a favorite decorative item along the way—a broken garden stool, a light you left behind, or something else you wish you still had?
