Hello friends and Merry Christmas week to you!
With just one night until our family arrives, I wanted to share a quick peek at our refreshed bedroom. I’ll have a more detailed update after the holidays, but I thought you might enjoy a few photos now.
A few months ago we debated painting the room and whether to add stripes. We finally chose a direction and once the decision was made, we didn’t look back.

Over the last few weeks we painted stripes (a classic pattern we’ve used in several homes), moved furniture between rooms, and hung new curtains. The changes have transformed the space.

In the evenings the room feels especially cozy with the lamp and window candles glowing before dark. During the day it’s lighter and happier—exactly what we hoped for.
The palette matches our lower level but is applied differently here, so the room coordinates with the rest of the house while feeling fresh.

The only new additions are the paint and a couple of framed art prints—most furnishings were already in the house—so the room feels familiar and comfortable right away.
We used the same paint colors found downstairs: a warm neutral and a soft misty blue, applied as stripes to create subtle interest without overwhelming the space. The result is calm and collected.

We’re still tweaking a few things and plan to paint some furniture after the holidays, but this room has already become one of my favorites.
If you want to work on a decorating project this winter or learn along with me, consider joining my Wintering for HomeBodies virtual retreat in the new year. It’s a five-week workshop focused on creating a calm, cozy, and collected home.

Most people spent the weekend wrapping gifts and prepping food, but I got sidetracked—rearranging furniture instead of cleaning. No regrets: I’m so glad I brought the rattan shelf into this room. It’s a flea-market find that has moved with us through several homes and it works perfectly here.

I’ll share more about the design choices and next steps after the holidays. Since the garland is up and the room feels cozy, I wanted to offer this little sneak peek for anyone checking in. Scroll down for more photos; I’ll post the full tour in the new year.
More soon.
If you’d like to join me after New Year’s to make your home calm, cozy, and collected, I’d love to have you in the workshop. Let’s make January happier and more beautiful together.
