We’ve been busy making improvements around the house as we get ready for our first summer here. We’re excited not only for beach days and time on the water, but for working on the yard and exterior spaces. One project that’s moving along is our front porch. While we had our roof and gutters cleaned, we also installed a set of charming railing planters that I’ll show once they’re planted — I can’t wait to share the finished look. We bought a matching set of two for a better deal and are planning to hang them on either side of the porch railing.

I also added a cheerful doormat for summer that instantly brightened the entry. I found it on clearance and it’s still marked down. I rounded up a few other doormats I love below if you’re looking for something new for your home.

If you missed my post about my summer door basket, you can find it in my earlier post about faux hydrangeas and seasonal door decor.

PS — I can’t stop buying faux peonies. They’re inexpensive, look pretty, and add a summery feel even though I don’t have real ones in the yard yet. I treated myself to white faux peonies this time because I loved the pink ones I already had. They’re a simple way to freshen up the house without a lot of maintenance.

I’ve also shared other floral and plant ideas in recent posts, including realistic faux peonies and faux hydrangeas for door baskets, plus tips for keeping plants looking great even if they’re not real.
