We’ve been enjoying cooking in our newly remodeled kitchen for the past eight months. During the remodel we relied on eating out and makeshift setups like an electric skillet in the laundry room, so having a proper kitchen again has made daily meal prep more pleasant and efficient.
We aim to eat at home as much as possible. While we still love dining out—Seattle has fantastic restaurants—cooking at home lets our vegan, semi-vegetarian, and dairy-free family members eat well, saves money, and gives us control over ingredients and nutrition.
More home cooking meant we needed better organization. Enter the Brother P-Touch D210 label maker. This compact labeler has become my organizing go-to. Once you start using one, labeling feels almost addictive in the best way.

To make meal prep efficient, we focused on kitchen layout during the remodel. We added four shallow drawers on either side of the stove and installed a Lazy Susan cabinet for pots and pans to maximize storage and accessibility. Knowing what you plan to cook, having good ingredients on hand, and being able to find them quickly are key to cooking healthier meals more often.

We tend to buy in bulk, which left us with many small bags and jars tucked into drawers. Unlabeled packages and hard-to-read twist ties made it hard to tell when items needed replenishing. That disorganization slowed down meal prep because we often had to open packages to identify contents by sight or smell.
Although I’m enthusiastic about preparing daily meals, I’m not a confident cook—missing ingredients can easily prompt me to give up and order takeout. After too many pizza deliveries, I decided to tackle our kitchen organization more seriously.

The P-touch makes labeling quick and painless: type a word, print the label, stick it on, and in minutes your pantry or drawer is easier to use. I love that I can preview labels before printing and experiment with different fonts, frames, and symbols.

The P-touch offers 14 fonts, 97 frames, and more than 600 symbols for creative, personalized labels. Its TZe laminated tape is water-, fade-, and temperature-resistant—ideal for kitchen use.

With the kitchen organized and labeled, I already have plans to label other areas of the house to keep things tidy and accessible.

How could you get more organized with labels?
Labels help you know what’s in bags and containers at a glance, speed up cooking, reduce waste, and make grocery planning easier. Consider labeling spice drawers, bulk containers, snack bins, freezer bags, and shelves so everyone in the household can find and return items quickly.
You can purchase the P-touch D210 labeler at retailers such as Amazon, Office Depot, or Staples.
