And now a behind-the-scenes story about a ceramic animal mishap. While we were working on this project, something unfortunate happened.

I’m not quite ready to go into every detail, so here’s John’s illustration of how the accident unfolded:

Sadly, my favorite giant ceramic dog — a find from HomeGoods three years ago for just $29 — lost his face. As the world’s most famous blogger once said, it sucked and then I cried.

We even held a little candlelit vigil. Goodbye, Mr. Ceramic Dog. You were a charming companion and required no cleanup—until now.

I may try to glue him back together, although some fragments are quite small. For now, I’ll likely be found shaking, sighing, and softly asking “why?”

Just kidding — I’ll survive.
