Merry Christmas 2022: Warm Wishes From Our Home to Yours

Hello, friend! Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a healthy, happy holiday season. From our home to yours, I wanted to share a few snapshots of how we’ve decorated and enjoyed this time of year.

This year we kept our decorations simple—just enough for our family to enjoy without feeling overwhelmed. I usually prefer pared-back decor, though I have a feeling next year I may be inspired to do a bit more.

I’m already thinking about the possibilities for the new year. Lately things have been busy as we plan several home remodel projects and a few big new ventures I’ve been working on with my daughters for The Inspired Room. We’re excited to share more—everything will begin to roll out in early 2023.

We finished our holiday decorating early this year so the house would be ready to host family at Thanksgiving. It was lovely to share the season together—last year they couldn’t come at Christmas due to a snowstorm, so having the house feel festive for their visit this time meant a lot.

Keeping the decor simple allowed us to enjoy the season without pressure. Even with a busy schedule, the house felt peaceful and welcoming.

We’ve had an early white season this year—the Northwest surprised us with a foot of snow. What used to feel rare now seems like something to expect this time of year. The snow shifted our plans for the week and affected travel for many people across the country; I hope you’re staying safe and warm where you are.

The dogs have loved the snow, and we’ve enjoyed watching them from inside the warm house. Thankfully, temperatures are forecast to warm for Christmas, so we may still squeeze in a holiday gathering with the kids. A late celebration is perfectly fine—we’ll take it!

I miss some of our original family traditions, but I’m also learning to enjoy this new chapter as empty nesters. Once the remodel is finished we’ll feel more settled, and I’m sure we’ll create new, meaningful traditions along the way.

We’ll be taking a few days away from work, social media, and blogging to celebrate and focus on the reason for the season. Meanwhile, I’ve scheduled a new Scrolls and Strolls post for Christmas Day and another soon after, so if you want some holiday inspiration you can find those on the blog. There will also be an email after Christmas for subscribers.

I’ll be sharing a lot after Christmas—a year-in-review and a look ahead. I’ll also reveal more about our addition, the new kitchen, and other remodeling plans around the house. Plus, I’ll share news about the new community and resources my daughters and I have been building—there will be a sneak peek shortly and an opportunity to sign up for updates as things come together.
