At this time of year, I often get focused on one change I want to make or a problem I want to solve before guests arrive. Deadlines like Thanksgiving and Christmas make projects feel more urgent, so I end up finishing things faster than usual.
My husband teases me because I say “I have an idea” all the time, not just during the holidays. This week one of those ideas turned into a small change that improved both our daily routine and our holiday setup.
I found a neat cabinet at World Market that I’m excited about. It will serve as a dining room buffet for serving and storage and double as a TV console when we want to use the dining room for watching a show or letting the kids play video games during gatherings.
Sometimes we set up a small TV in the dining room for family meals or holiday play sessions. I prefer not to have the TV out all the time, so having a cabinet provides a tidy, dedicated spot to put it when needed. Previously we used a table here, which stuck out a few inches deeper than this cabinet.
I love how clean and streamlined this cabinet looks. It will be practical every day and useful when we entertain, even when the TV isn’t in use.
The cabinet offers storage while remaining shallow enough that it doesn’t obstruct the walkway—handy after a big meal. It’s designed as a media stand, so there are cutouts in the back for cords. That makes it simple to store a game console or cable box inside while keeping cables organized and out of sight.
Overall, the dining room feels cozier and more functional now, ready to welcome guests and handle everyday life.
