Today I’m excited to share a virtual tour of a stunning new modern coastal home. This custom beach house feels like a dream—airy, light-filled, and thoughtfully designed. I’m delighted to bring these photos to you and highlight details that made me smile, especially elements inspired by my own kitchen and ideas from The Inspired Room.
Although this beautiful home isn’t mine, it feels familiar in many ways. The owner, my friend Susan Heid, generously let me share these recent photos so you can enjoy the home’s character and coastal charm.
I watched this house rise from the ground up and was thrilled to get sneak peeks during the design and build. It took a couple of years to complete, and the finished result was well worth the wait.

Susan’s kitchen is a larger, more elaborate version of my own galley kitchen, and I love seeing details that were inspired by ideas I shared. From cabinetry choices to hardware, faucet, and sink styles, many thoughtful selections echo familiar touches while expanding them into a spacious, coastal aesthetic.

This kitchen captures the best of modern coastal design—clean white cabinetry, warm wood accents, and black hardware that adds contrast. It’s fun to see ideas adapt and grow in a custom build, bringing together familiar favorites and fresh details.

Beyond the kitchen, the home showcases classic coastal elements: abundant windows that fill rooms with light, shiplap walls, exposed beams, and beautiful wide-plank floors. Built-ins and window seats add warmth and charm throughout the home.

The home is in Seabrook, Washington, a charming coastal town I’ve long wanted to visit. I plan to see it in person someday and maybe wave hello to Susan—after sending a quick message first, of course. For now, I’ll enjoy the virtual tour and dream of that porch and view.

Light, windows, and thoughtful sightlines make each room feel open and welcoming. The stone fireplace framed by white shiplap creates a cozy focal point, while built-ins provide practical storage and display space.

Hallways and stairways feature shiplap and transom windows that enhance the home’s architecture. Dutch doors, attractive hardware, and carefully chosen finishes contribute to the cohesive coastal look.

Inspiration from a previous Street of Dreams Coastal Farmhouse tour shows up in the stairway design.

Small details delight: a blue kitchen island with butcher block counters, custom laundry drawers with built-in drying racks, and thoughtful storage make daily life easier and more beautiful.

A turret-style room stole my heart—the vaulted ceiling, abundant windows, and natural light make it a memorable retreat.

Bathrooms are tailored and elegant, with subway tile showers, freestanding tubs, and well-planned storage. A barn door and carefully selected finishes add personality without compromising function.

A bunk room offers a fun, family-friendly sleeping area—perfect for guests or kids. Thoughtful planning makes each bedroom feel welcoming and restful.

The exterior delights with classic shingles, lanterns, and a charming painted door reminiscent of Wythe Blue. A welcoming porch and curved entry detail create instant curb appeal.

Outdoor living is important here: a double-sided exterior fireplace and an outdoor shower invite relaxed seaside living and add layers of functionality and fun.

And the views—what a backdrop for this home. Whether inside or on the porch, the setting enhances the relaxed, coastal ambiance.
