I recently came across House Beautiful’s July “Kitchen of the Month” and was struck by how lovely it is. Though it’s larger and more elaborate than my own kitchen, the layout, style, and color palette reminded me of mine. Over the past few years I’ve grown to really love my kitchen—it’s one of my favorite projects and the space I enjoy most in the house.
We’re planning a move to the city and expect to end up in an older home that will likely need some work. That almost certainly means a kitchen renovation will be on the horizon. I don’t mind at all—kitchens are my passion, and the thought of designing another one for our family is exciting. Thinking ahead to the fun of creating a new home helps ease the sadness of leaving the one I’ve loved.
Kitchens are my favorite.
