5 Stylish Ways to Refresh Your Living Room for Fall

I’ve been feeling inspired to refresh our living room and dining room lately. Not solely because it’s officially the first day of fall, but the change of season always seems to spark ideas for small and big updates.

Seasonal shifts are a natural catalyst for change. Fall updates can be as simple as snipping a few branches with colorful leaves and placing them in a vase, swapping textiles and accessories for richer hues, or making more significant changes like new furniture or architectural details if you want a bolder transformation.

I’ll share more about what I’m planning soon, but for now I’m enjoying the process of collecting ideas and imagining what could improve the space — whether that means small touches or larger design moves.

Five easy ideas to refresh a living room this season

  1. Cut branches with autumn foliage from your yard and display them in a vase for an instant seasonal update.
  2. Switch artwork or accessories to pieces with deeper, warmer tones to create a cozier atmosphere.
  3. Add more lamps and layered lighting to soften the room and improve evening ambiance.
  4. Explore secondhand or vintage shopping to find an unexpected, characterful piece.
  5. Install new wallpaper or add trim details to give the room more personality and architectural interest.
