Wallpaper has a special way of bringing warmth, texture and personality into a space. At our house we currently have wallpaper in the powder room — a navy and white whale pattern that adds instant character and charm. I can easily envision patterned paper in our future guest room or bath, spaces we’ll reclaim when my parents move into their new place. A grasscloth runner in the upstairs hallway is another idea I keep returning to.
Once the remodel is finished and the upstairs floors are in, I’ll explore those possibilities more intentionally. For many, wallpaper carries memories of difficult removal from older homes, and I can relate — we stripped layers of paper from our 1930s English Tudor. Still, when chosen thoughtfully and installed in the right setting, wallpaper feels like a beautiful, timeless choice that can elevate a room.
Below are several inspiring rooms that show how wallpaper can define a space, whether with bold patterns, subtle textures or classic motifs. Use these images as a starting point for your own ideas: a bold accent wall in a living room, a delicate floral in a bedroom, or a cozy patterned paper in a small bathroom.
Sunday Strolls + Scrolls is a series inspired by interiors and outdoor spaces I discovered while browsing online. I love finding rooms that feel like sanctuaries — spaces that are calming, inviting and thoughtfully designed. My hope is that each edition feels like a relaxed walk through a charming neighborhood or a peaceful stroll in a garden, offering a few moments of inspiration and delight.
